Some say that you can’t change the world but I want to change it __ Nigora Gulomova , Director Jawaharlal Nehru IT centre , Tashkent
This is the determination that runs through her veins. She forsees a world with zero gender biases and maximum digitalization, a world where women are driven by technologies, not challenged by its functionality, where work flow is easy and villages are not backward zones with dark hollows of illiteracy or inconvenience.
We all know that how important it is to be digitally furnished. Owning a number of digital gadgets isn't what we are talking about here, instead we have to furnish and equip our beings with the perfect insight into the knowledge and functionality of digitalization. Table time discussions are not the remedies to issues like women empowerment or digital literacy , we need to take action . Talk of GDP or talk of Decision Making, be it for researchers or for marketers , digitalization is that one answer to millions of questions. In other words , it is an economy reinvented to gear up growth, where a fruitful command needs only a thoughtful decision and a few clicks on your computer system, thereby liberating thousands of bottlenecks in work flows.
Gender equality doesn’t come to me accidentally, it was due to my parents' continuous support that I became a global leader for women’s issues_

Brothers are always ready to help and that makes them so prized for sisters . A big thanks to him
When we approached her for this interview, she sounded extremely enthusiastic to share her ideas and experiences over the issues related to gender equality and making women digitally equipped . Eventually we had a great conversation about Uzbekistan and how the governments of developing nations have stepped into the agenda of making things better for the entire community of women.

Q.Please give us a brief about your work as we all know thar you are doing a lot to turn new leaves in the field of IT and digital economy.
Thank you for the invite . Yes it’s true . I am the director of the Indian Uzbek centre for IT in Tashkent and at the same time I am the deputy chairwoman at the centre for economic development of the regions. My research in the areas concerning the role of women in start ups, digital entrepreneurship , especially in rural areas is going on, there’s a lot more to be studied and explored
Q. How does digital economy help the governments and the organizations ?
See , we all know that digital technologies have vast potential to improve people's work and lives .Today more than the world’s half population is connected to networks . The future requires skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths . Hence its very important for progress
Q. What would you say about the role of women in this sector ?
Unfortunately the involvement of women in this, sector is very low in most countries., although slight increase is noticeable but the pace isn’t satisfactory.
Q What are the factors responsible for lower representation of women in digital economy?
Cultural , religious and political factors . For example, cultural beliefs, work family balances, lack of social networking and role models . Although women represent half of the tech users and are the essential part of growth and technology and hence this has led the governments like Uzbekistan and India towards actively trying to build digital economy in a way that there’s no problem of gender inequality.
According to her, knowing digital skills can completely change a woman's life . She can be more independent and seek out new career paths. Day in and day out she is on her mission to help Uzbek women be digitally empowered so as to bring about a good representation of women in social, political and economical arenas.
